El 26 de Octubre de 1970 se publicaba la canción “Your Song”, como un sencillo en los EEUU, compuesta e interpretada por Elton John con letras de Bernie Taupin. Tenía en el lado B, el tema “Take me to the Pilot”.
Originalmente, formaba parte de su segundo LP titulado “Elton John” que había sido lanzado el 10 de abril de 1970 por DJM Records en Europa, y por Uni Records en Norteamérica. Su primer trabajo discográfico fue “Empty Sky”, que salió a la venta el 3 de junio de 1969.
Three Dog Night
Como dato curioso, el tema “Your Song”, fue lanzado por primera vez por la banda de rock estadounidense “Three Dog Night”, en marzo de 1970 en su tercer álbum de estudio, titulado: “It Ain”t Easy”. Pero no llegaron a grabar como single.
Reconocimientos
En 1998 fue incluido en el Salón de la Fama de los Grammy. En 2004 y 2010, la canción se ubicó en la posición nº 137 en la lista de la revista Rolling Stone, «Las 500 mejores canciones de todos los tiempos». Y ha sido versionada por muchos artistas.
